ABOUT THE PROJECT
Takunda is a five-year (October 2020 to September 2025), USAID-funded Resilience Food Security Activity in Zimbabwe. The program complements government efforts in building
resilience to repeated shocks amongst vulnerable communities. It is being implemented by a consortium of NGOs led by CARE International together with its partners: Bulawayo Projects
Centre (BPC), Environment Africa (EA), Family Health International (FHI 360), International Youth Foundation (IYF), and Nutrition Action Zimbabwe (NAZ). The Program is supported by technical partners FANRPAN and the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT). The primary goal of Takunda is to achieve Sustainable, Equitable, and Resilient Food, Nutrition, and income security in the Buhera, Mutare, Chivi, and Zaka districts.
This program aims to achieve its goal through 3 purpose areas, namely,
i. Increased gender equitable income among extremely poor and chronically vulnerable households, women, and youth.
ii. Improved nutritional status among children under 5 years, adolescent girls, and women of reproductive age.
iii. Reduced impact of shocks and stresses for extremely poor and chronically vulnerable households, women, and youth.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Relief Warehouse Assistant is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Officer in overseeing the receipt, storage, dispatching, and record keeping of food and non-food
items in the Masvingo warehouse in accordance with BHA Title 11 and CARE commodity management procedures and guidelines.
KEY RESULT AREAS
1. Warehouse Administration
a. Plan warehouse space, equipment, and labour for the receipt of commodities.
b. Assist with the receipt of commodities in accordance with allocations provided.
c. Facilitate reconstitution and segregation of damaged commodities.
d. Dispatch according to FIFO and monitor commodity expiry date and plans dispatch of such commodities.
e. Assist Warehouse Officer with reviewing distribution plans and ensure that commodities are dispatched according to the requirements of the distribution plans.
f. Track returns and transfers at FDPs and ensure that deductions to dispatches are occur correctly.
g. Conduct daily opening and closing stock counts and reconcile against ledger and stack card balances.
2. Warehouse Record Keeping and Reporting
a. Update ledgers and stack cards and reconcile against physical balances after every receipt or dispatch.
b. Immediately notify the Warehouse Officer of losses and damages and complete Loss/Damage reports for any losses incurred during the receipt, storage, and dispatch of commodities.
c. Submit daily or weekly updates/reports for Masvingo Warehouse to the Warehouse Officer.
d. Upload on MS Teams updated warehouse ledgers by shipment for Masvingo warehouse.
e. Prepare and submit daily receipt and dispatch summaries for compilation of CTS reports.
f. Ensure documents are updated and filed in accordance with the approved filing list.
3. Warehouse Administration and Logistics Support
a. Prepare departmental requisitions for approval and submission to Program support and finance for processing.
b. Maintains warehouse equipment and tools such as pallets, tarpaulins, scales, ladders, stitching machines.
c. Ensures only authorized personnel enter storage areas.
d. Prepares loaders’ schedule confirming the services done for payments.
e. Checks the availability of security guards during loading and off-loading of commodities.
4. Training and Capacity Building
a. Assist the Warehouse Officer with the provision on the job training and capacity building to warehouse loaders/staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related.
• 2 years’ experience in warehouse administration, logistics and record keeping.
• Computer proficiency.
• Excellent communication skills.
