The Biomedical Research and Training Institute (BRTI) implements a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded Laboratory Systems Strengthening (LSS) Work Plan for the Ministry of Health and Child Care of Zimbabwe. The following vacancy has arisen within BRTI in Collaboration with MOHCC.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the organizational database.
- Develop ETL tools and data pipelines to connect the database to the reporting tools.
- Develop reports that combine data from different datasets.
- Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
- Develop data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain data systems.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
- Work with program management to prioritize information needs.
- Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
Qualification and Skills Requirements
- Experience in data processing, database development and management and reporting using Python programming, SQL Database, Power BI/Tableau and mapping software such as ArcGIS/QGIS.
- Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst.
- Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining andsegmentation techniques.
- Hands-on experience with SQL database design as well as Python programming.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQLetc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks).
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS,SAS etc).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amountsof information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adept or proficient at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
- Monitoring and Evaluation Professional with health program M&E work experience; graduate degree in Data Science, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Monitoring and Evaluation and/or Public Health desirable. Master degree in any of the above discipline is an added advantage.
- Good interpersonal skills, team player, able to work under pressure. Sensitivity to the concerns of the developing world and able to work with local and national authorities from different cultural and professional backgrounds.
