Job Description
The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the project “CS4ZIM: Civil society actors as drivers of transformative change in Zimbabwe” implemented
by COSPE, in partnership with the project partner.
As Country Representative, the person will be in charge of overseeing the coherence of COSPE’s mission, vision and values in the way projects, initiatives, relations and personnel management are carried out, as well as identifying new funding opportunities and contribute to the elaboration of new project proposals and lastly of representing the Association vis-à-vis local authorities and other civil society actors in order to promote exchanges and synergies useful for COSPE’s positioning in the country
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Coordinate, monitor and supervise the implementation of the CS4ZIM project
2. Enhance the smooth communication and coordination between COSPE and the project partner
3. Organize and conduct the quarterly Project Steering Committee meetings
4. Enhance partnerships between local and international institutions involved in the project
5. Prepare bi-weekly, monthly and annual plan and narrative and supervise financial reports according to the donor’s requirements
6. Organize and manage experts’ short missions as foreseen by the CS4ZIM Project.
7. Work in close collaboration with the different COSPE Departments in Zimbabwe and in the HQ.
8. Manage the project budgets according to the donor’ rule and to COSPE’s financial and administration procedures in coordination with administration department at field and HQ level
9. Collaborate with the M&E in defining and monitoring the project`s indicators, through the elaboration and update of the Monitoring Plan
10. Coordinate, supervise and mentor the CS4ZIM project team
11. Participate in the periodical staff meeting organized by COSPE
12. Take part in the identification of possible donors and the identification and elaboration of proposals
13. Representing COSPE vis-à-vis local authorities and other civil society actors in order to promote exchanges and synergies useful for COSPE’s positioning in the country
- University degree or equivalent qualification in Social Sciences, International Cooperation
- Minimum 5 years of consolidated experience working with Civil Society Organizations in project management
- Excellent knowledge of the procedures and rules and funding mechanisms of major donors (especially the European Union);
- Proven previous experience in the management and implementation of projects on human rights protection and promotion and civil society organizations’ strengthening
- Excellent ability to organize and coordinate team work;
- Excellent knowledge of the English language;
- Strong motivation towards the Mission and full and motivated adherence to COSPE’s

Preferred requirements
1. Previous work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa;
2. Knowledge of Italian language
3. Knowledge and use of advanced project and program monitoring and evaluation tools (power analysis, theory of change, impact assessments, use of GIS systems applied to project monitoring, etc);
