Executive Director

Island Hospice and Healthcare is a pioneer in palliative care in Africa since 1979, providing expert care for those with life-threatening illnesses and their families, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Our organisation is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and results-driven Executive Director to lead its next phase of strategic growth and impact. Reporting to the Board of Trustees and Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for driving the organisation’s mission, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability.

Key Strategic Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

•       Lead the organisation in alignment with the evolving vision and strategic plan of the Board of Trustees and Directors.
•       Ensure continuous responsiveness to changes in strategy and purpose.

Programme Growth and Innovation

• • Design and implement new, mission-aligned initiatives that foster transformation and relevance
  • Sustain and scale existing programmes to increase impact and donor retention

Resource Mobilisation and Capacity Building

• • Prioritise the development and retention of motivated, well-trained staff, including regular review of employment terms.
  • Secure and manage diverse financial and human capital resources to ensure organisational resilience

Programme Implementation and Performance Monitoring

o Drive results-based implementation, ensuring measurable programme outcomes through robust M&E systems.

Financial Management and Compliance

• • Ensure accurate monthly financial reporting and timely submission of audited financial statements.
  • Oversee financial controls, budgeting, and risk management processes

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management

o Build and maintain strategic partnerships with donors, regulators, partners, and key stakeholders.

Governance and Organisational Oversight

o Conduct periodic reviews across all operations to maintain alignment with strategic goals and uphold high performance standards.

The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with strong strategic acumen, financial oversight capability, and demonstrated success in stakeholder management and organisational growth.
