HALO is the world’s largest Mine Action organisation addressing the impact and drivers of conflict in 30 countries and territories, with over 12,000 staff. Our primary duty is to serve people affected by conflict, clearing landmines and the explosive remnants of war that threaten lives and livelihoods long after fighting has finished.

Role Summary

The Projects Assistant is responsible for assisting the Head of Donor Management and Partnerships (HDMP) in the management of donor contracts, liaising with the community outreach teams, and coordinating the monitoring and evaluation efforts for programme activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Donor management

  • Assist in drafting high quality and timely reports and proposals
  • Maintaining a calendar of donor reporting timelines
  • Conducting beneficiary case studies to ensure the accurate representation of HALO’s work and impact

Monitoring and evaluation

  • Working closely with the HDMP in the delivery of project‐related monitoring and evaluation reporting, in line with donor and HALO requirements
  • Coordinate with the programme’s Information Management department to ensure that reportable data is quality assured and accurate
  • Liaise with sub‐contracted and internal Monitoring and Evaluation Specialists under the technical guidance of the HDMP for the collection of information and preparation of results‐based reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide support to development linked projects in HALO’s area of operations and collecting data on local socioeconomic issues, land use etc

 Resource mobilization

  • Supporting implementation of resource mobilization strategies and initiatives
  • Undertaking research and other activities under the guidance of the HDMP to identify funding opportunities
  • Engagement with local humanitarian actors and partners relevant to HALO’s programme

Communication

  • Assist the Head of Donor Management and Partnerships in communication management
  • Collect communications materials for print/electronic/voice/visual media and supports the production of HALO Programme results reporting
  • Collect content from the field and develop stories for sharing with donors and for external communications efforts
  • Support with programme communications opportunities by sharing content with HQ and pursuing opportunities to highlight HALO’s work and the support of our donors in Zimbabwe Record minutes for key internal and external meetings

Partnerships

  • Assist in identify partnership opportunities to maximise the impact of HALO’s operations
  • Support in the development of partnerships with like‐minded NGOs working in the same area as HALO or those seeking to access HALO’s area of operation, to maximize the benefits for the local communities
  • Assist the HDMP in the management and execution of joint partner projects, arranging exchange/planning visits, coordinating and reporting

Events

  • Assist Senior management with planning, logistics and delivery of special events, including but not limited to donors and VIP field visits

Qualifications, Experience and Key attributes

  • Relevant degree in Social Sciences or related qualification
  • At least one year work experience in similar post is an added advantage
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Shona
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages
  • Effective communication skills, ability to produce high quality written and presentation products appropriate for intended readership or audience
  • A self‐starter, able to organize and manage his or her own time
  • A practical and adaptable person who is capable of living and working in challenging and basic environments
