Climate Justice and Policy Influencing

ActionAid Zimbabwe (AAZ) works to strengthen the capacity and active agency of people living in poverty and exclusion, especially women and girls to assert their rights. It prioritises the leadership of women and young people effective participation in leadership and decision-making processes. The organisation works in partnership with Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), National and International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs), Civic Society Organisations (CSOs) and like-minded organisations in and outside Zimbabwe.

The Climate Justice and Policy Influencing Inspirator will play a crucial role in mentoring and empowering youth networks, groups, and movements in advocating for climate justice and influencing policy using a Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field
• At least one year’s experience in climate justice policy/research work, either within civil society organisations or research organisations
• Experience in Policy work: Policy position drafting, legislative advocacy, as well as policy formulation procedures centred on climate.
• Experience in working in rural and urban areas with young people, as well as in host communities.
• Experience of monitoring and evaluating or capturing learning for projects.
• Demonstrable experience in peer-to-peer learning.
• Strong analytical skills and good political judgment is desirable, participatory training methods and action research.
• Ability to write concise, analytical, and accurate reports to meet agreed deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and other Local Languages.
