Position: Casual Drivers

Reporting to: Procurement and Logistics Officer

Position & responsibility:

The Driver reports directly to the Procurement and Logistics Officer.

Objective of the posting:

The casual driver is to deliver driving services and logistical support as and when required both in Harare and in areas where the organisation operates.

Supportive functions:

• To drive Cordaid staff and visitors courteously and safely to desired locations as instructed by the Logistics and Procurement Officer.
• To deliver and pick up materials and documents at offices in Zimbabwe in safe and confidential manner as directed by the Logistics Officer.

Vehicle Management

• Ensure that the following is available in the vehicle at all times; valid driver’s license, copies of insurance documents, maps and contact list.
• Ensure that all Harare Cordaid vehicles are in clean and safe operating condition according to the Cordaid Standards.
• Maintain and update the log book of the vehicle. Recording the mileage, fuel receipts and coupons, servicing, repairs and monitor fuel usage.
• Report immediately to the Logistics and Procurement Officer any accidents or incidents that require security and safety measures. Standard procedures need to be followed when an accident occurs.
• Submit the inspection report on a weekly basis and/or after every handover of the Harare vehicles, and report any maintenance problems that may require attention.
• Ensure that the vehicle is equipped with the required tools and equipment such as the fire extinguisher, wheel change kit, spare wheel and the first aid kit.
• Ensure to follow the drivers rules and standards according to the Cordaid standard office procedures.
• To understand and obey all traffic rules and regulations at all times.
• Any other duties as and when required and may be assigned by the line manager.

Workplaces

Harare with possible travel to provinces and districts.

Qualifications and Skills

• At least 5 O’levels including English

▪ At least 5 years driving experience
• Possession of a clean class 2/4 driver’s license and a valid defensive driving/ 4x4 Driving Certificate
• Discreet, honest and trustworthy (trusted)
• Basic knowledge of vehicle engineering
• Good command of English and one local language
• Willing to travel nationwide on multiple day trips
• Experience in NGO setting an added advantage
